Provision of Computers & Training for poor children

Phase 1:  Fund raising among friends and well wishers of The Ahava Foundation here in Sri Lanka as well as globally.

 

Phase 2:   Identification and preparing a home/sizeable room in the particular ‘watta’ to

House 5 computers along with the necessary infra structure of wiring/internet etc. with the possibility of increasing this number if it grows, upto 7 computers.

 

Phase 3:  purchasing 5 computers initially with a provision to increase to 7 nos.

 

Phase 3: Identifying suitable teachers for Spoken/written English and computer teaching

i.e.  Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel,  Powerpoint,  Internet use etc.

 

Phase 4:  Commencing classes for the children in the allocated location i.e. 3 days of the week at suitable times to be worked out with the children/families/tutors. 

 

Phase 5: Evaluate project and attend/minimize shortcomings

Benefits of the project

  • A skill is imparted and taught to the children for their future benefit in society
  • The Children when they reach the adult working age are able engage in jobs which brings remuneration
  • Fellowship of the community is strengthened and built by interacting with others
  • People skills/communication skills are developed i.e. through the English class
  • The overall quality of life of themselves and their families is enhanced
  • The same infra structure facilities, i.e. computers, tables, chairs etc. will be re-used to benefit another impoverished group in another area in Colombo or suburbs and can be continued for many years.
